To assist with your tax filing this year, here is a list of the documents Steadyhand clients will receive based on the type of account(s) held, along with a brief explanation of their purpose.

Please note: All documents are now provided electronically via our client portal, rather than by mail. This allows us to get them to you faster as well as more efficiently and securely.

Non-Registered Investment Accounts

T3 Slip
If you hold a non-registered account (an investment account other than an RRSP, RRIF, TFSA or FHSA), we send you a T3 slip for each Steadyhand fund you hold. T3 slips show the realized capital gains, dividend income (and corresponding dividend tax credit, if applicable), and other forms of investment income that you’re responsible for claiming on your return. Timeline: These slips will be uploaded to our client portal the week of March 10.

T5008
T3 slips do not include any capital gains (or losses) that you may have incurred from selling or switching units of Steadyhand funds in your non-registered account. If you made such a transaction(s), we send you a T5008 for each applicable Steadyhand fund. Timeline: These slips will be uploaded to our client portal the week of March 10.

RRSPs

Contribution Receipt
If you made a contribution(s) to your RRSP between March 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024, we provide you with an RRSP Contribution Receipt for the total amount of contributions you made over this period. Timeline: These receipts were uploaded to our client portal in late January.

If you made a contribution (or plan to make one) between January 1, 2025, and March 3, 2025, we send you a separate receipt for any contributions made in the first 60 days of the year (this amount can be applied to your 2024 tax return, or to a future year if you choose). Timeline: These ‘first 60 days’ receipts will be uploaded to our cient portal the week of March 10.

T4RSP
If you made a withdrawal from your RRSP in 2024, we send you a T4RSP slip. This slip shows the amount of any withdrawal(s) you made and any withholding tax remitted to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on your behalf. Timeline: These slips were uploaded to our client portal in late January.

RRIFs

T4RIF
If you hold a RRIF, we send you a T4RIF slip. This slip shows the amount of your withdrawals (including your minimum payment and any additional withdrawals) and any withholding tax remitted to CRA on your behalf. Timeline: These slips were uploaded to our client portal in late January.

FHSAs

T4FHSA
If you made a contribution, withdrawal, or RRSP transfer in or out of a FHSA in 2024, we provide you with a T4FHSA. Timeline: These slips were uploaded to our client portal in late January.

TFSAs

If you hold a TFSA, you do not receive any tax slips from us. These accounts are exempt from tax, and any contributions/withdrawals do not generate any tax-related documents. However, be sure to adhere to the maximum contribution limits for these accounts and the rules relating to re-contributions if you do make a withdrawal.

If you can’t find a slip/receipt you think you should have, or if you have any questions about a specific document, please contact us at 1-888-888-3147 from 7am - 5pm PT Monday to Friday.
