Tom was on BNN this morning discussing how we think about asset allocation and portfolio positioning in volatile markets. It’s all about being ‘approximately right’ rather than exactly wrong. In other words, you’re never going to pick the top or bottom of the market, so it’s key to stick to your strategic asset mix (SAM) and make modest adjustments when valuations and sentiment are at extremes.
Currently, sentiment is flashing fear, bonds are expensive and stocks are cheap. It’s a good time to lighten up on bonds and buy equities – within the context of your SAM. If you have any questions on how this advice may apply to your situation, give us a call at 1-888-888-3147.
